A chance to come together to discuss our hopes and desires
Fr. James Leachman OSB RIP
It is with the greatest sadness that we share news about the demise of Fr. James Leachman who died on 29th August 2021. Fr. James was a monk and priest and based at Ealing Abbey.
Among the many things that Fr. James put his hand to, he was co founder of Benedictine Institute, co founder of Institutum Liturgicum, co editor of Liturgicum aestimare: Appreciating the Liturgy, co director of Appreciating the Liturgy and a lecturer.
Fr. James was also Director of Landings from 2000-2014 and helped establish it at its base in Ealing Abbey. Fr. Dominic Robinson SJ, present Director of Landings UK said “It was really sad to hear of Fr James’ passing. James was an inspiration to so many and not least through his gentle and wise leadership of Landings from 2000 to 2014. All James’ hard work as part of the team that brought Landings to the UK and developed its ethos sowed the seeds for the work we are trying to do today, to be ready to listen to and welcome back returners. May James rest in peace and be assured of the prayers of the Landings UK family for the repose of his soul and for his many friends, his family and confrères whom he leaves behind”.
If anyone would like to attend Fr. James’ funeral, in person on 9th September at Ealing Abbey, then please check this link for details https://jamesleachman.com/rip/

Landings First Online Programme May 2020
Ruby Almeida Hossein Zand
Landings South has held its first session of its first ever virtual Landings Programme. Ruby Almeida the Landings Facilitator and Hossein Zand the Programme Leader have worked very closely with the Landings team to ensure that this online version translated as closely as possible to our successful face to face meetings. We are very blessed to have two returnees on our team and have four people whom we are accompanying on their faith journey.
During these difficult times of COVID 19, we know that the need for spiritual nourishment is much needed to fill voids that many people are finding in their lives. Many churches have found that the number of people watching their live streamed Mass has been up by 600% compared to their usual congregation. And these are based on the number of devices that have logged into the live stream but does not take into account the number of people gathered at each device to watch the Mass. In our own unique way Landings shines it light brightly for those seeking a way back to their faith.
Our Landings Family Grows!
Our Lady of Lourdes
Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Joseph, Leigh on Sea, is a new start up Landings group. In June 2019 a Landings training day was organised by Adele Angel of the Vicariate for Evangelisation for Brentwood Diocese. From that group Marian Long returned to her parish in Leigh on Sea, and with the support of her parish priest set up a small Landings Team. In less than six months the Leigh on Sea Landings Team, with support from the Landings Facilitator, Ruby Almeida, have just started their first Landings programme. We wish them well as they shine a beacon for those searching a way back to their faith. https://lourdesleigh.org/returning
